The Old Manager's House

This cottage was erected as the Managers House and was built, like all the other buildings, by station staff, not by expert builders. However, I don't believe that an architect could have done a better job. This building is particularly interesting as it is partly constructed over an underground water tank and was designed to keep the water clean and cool. The only problem is that the moisture does rise and there is a consequent increase in the salt damp.

We have not had a Manager for many years and so this three bedroomed cottage has been restored and furnished for guests. It has a large sitting/dining room with a wood heater, a kitchen and 3 bathrooms.
